How to give a small beverage company more juice.
Liberty Imports was a small company with a big idea: import several lines of exotic and refreshing beverages from Brazil and market them in the US under the brand name Brazil Gourmet –
a daunting task, indeed!
Initially, they decided to focus on their packaging – to give their products a "face" that was as unique and high quality as the products themselves. Brandloft Creative Director Victor DeCastro explains, "We began with the mango nectar line. Our objective was to make it very clear from the moment a consumer saw the product that it was new, exciting, fun, friendly and engaging." DeCastro then went on to successfully design the packaging for their related nectar tea line.
The next step was developing a robust, engaging, fully-functioning e-commerce site so that customers from all over the US had a way to buy the product.
Under the direction of DeCastro, himself a native Brazilian, the site was conceived, designed and developed. The site – trumpeting the mantra that "Taste is our Passion" – opens with an impactful flash sequence that succinctly tells the Brazil Gourmet story . "In terms of e-commerce, it would have been cost-prohibitive for the company to program its own shopping cart. So we choose to build an interface to Yahoo shopping cart and effectively outsource the entire ordering, payment and shipping functions," DeCastro explained.
The result? A brand-new identity for five lines of unique, delicious products, distribution in major retailers such as Costco and BJ's, and a fully functioning and engaging e-commerce site that rivals those of much bigger players.
